Placer County to host down payment assistance webinars
Published Nov.4, 2021
Placer County will host six down payment assistance informational webinars this fall as part of its efforts to support housing affordability.
The webinars offer an opportunity for community members to learn more about opportunities for homeownership in Placer County, the down payment assistance programs the county offers (such as its First Time Homebuyer Assistance Program and Workforce Preservation Housing Program) and general information about the home buying process.
Beginning in mid-November, half of the webinars will focus on the unincorporated areas of west Placer County (including Auburn, Granite Bay, Sheridan, Meadow Vista, Foresthill), and the others will focus on the unincorporated areas of east Placer County (Martis Valley and North Lake Tahoe). Those interested are encouraged to attend the regional webinar that best fits their location. Spanish translation will be available at all the webinars.
To help lead the webinars, Placer has partnered with housing development consultant Robyn van Ekelenburg, who has decades of experience assisting residents with the home buying process. County staff will also be present to answer questions related to Placer County’s down payment assistance programs.
“Housing prices are rising in the county,” says Shawna Purvines, deputy director of Placer County Community Development Resource Agency. “We want all residents to have access to affordable housing opportunities; and we hope that these webinars will spread more awareness about our existing homebuyer assistance programs that are already working to make affordable housing more achievable for residents.”
