Placer County region launches survey to shape business retention and expansion

The Placer County Economic Development Board, an extension of the Placer County Economic Development Office, has launched a survey to help shape the future of business retention and expansion in the county.

The survey is a collaborative effort to determine how regional partners can continue to work with business owners in Placer County, strengthen our local economy and help businesses prosper.

"Placer County wants to be the most business-healthy and business-friendly county in California,” said William Jessup University President Dr. John Jackson. “Please help us achieve that goal by telling us the truth about what your business is experiencing and what you need from our county to be even more successful."

The survey is part of the Placer County Regions Business Retention and Expansion Program, which focuses on building business ecosystems that thrive and enhance resiliency.

“This survey is a key component to understanding the business climate from our bustling valley floor to our mountain communities,” said Placer County District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson. “Survey feedback will go a long way toward helping us achieve success.”

This Placer County Regions program is a first-of-its-kind and is intended to build a focused, countywide collaborative network whereby data is developed and shared to better understand, predict and forecast business conditions, challenges, successes and opportunities. 

“Although new business recruitment is a priority of the Placer County Office of Economic Development, a strong business retention and expansion program is an integral economic development strategy to ascertain the health of our existing businesses,” said Roseville City Councilman and current Placer County Economic Development Board Chair Scott Alvord. “Businesses that are already located here account for most of all net change in local employment, so we need to be sure to give them the attention they deserve.”

“Data will be leveraged with the county’s outstanding industry, education, nonprofit and businesses organizations to support and assist businesses of all sizes in their quest to grow and prosper in the county,” said Placer County Economic Development Office Director Sherri Conway.

The Placer County Regions Program includes all Placer County incorporated cities, chambers of commerce and various business organizations. The program is sponsored by the Placer County Economic Development Board.
