COVID-19 antibody study continues
Another 5,000 Placer residents will be invited this week to join Placer County’s COVID-19 infection rate study. Placer launched the study in October 2020 to better understand the coronavirus infection rate among county residents.

Fuel reduction grants now open
Grant funding is now available to help protect the Middle Fork American River from fire thanks to an annual funding agreement between Placer County and Placer County Water Agency.

Board initiate affordable housing taskforce
The Placer County Board of Supervisors today approved the establishment of the Placer County Housing Development Advisory Taskforce to help identify and move forward affordable housing projects in the county. The taskforce will consist of nine community members with expertise in housing development who understand the unique housing needs of the Placer region.

Lake Tahoe pier regulations update
The Placer County Board of Supervisors today voted to move forward with updating the county’s Lake Tahoe Shorezone Ordinance to reduce regulatory overlap with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. The result is that county permits will only be required for piers that require a building permit or for piers located in a county property interest.

The Placer County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved next steps to develop new supervisorial district boundaries in the county.

County prioritizes green public transit
Placer County residents could see zero emission buses traveling around North Lake Tahoe as soon as 2023 as part of a county-wide effort to go green. The Board of Supervisors approved spending $345,000 for a zero emission bus feasibility and transition plan that will study the best way to roll out a zero emission bus fleet over a 20-year period.

Incentive Available to Replace Pre-1988 Woodstoves
The Placer County Air Pollution Control District is pleased to announce the opportunity for Placer County residents to receive an incentive to replace their pre-1988, high-polluting woodstove with a cleaner-burning, more efficient stove or insert.

Free tax prep help
For the fifth year, Placer County Health and Human Services will provide free tax assistance to eligible individuals and families, in cooperation with the IRS and United Way, through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
