The District Attorney’s Office is grateful for the outreach and support we have received on behalf of Supervising Deputy District Attorney Jeff Wood and his family as they deal with the tragic loss of their daughter. Our office, along with the Wood family is touched by the many condolences received from members of law enforcement, the legal community, and community leaders not only from Placer County, but from our surrounding counties. Words cannot express our appreciation for the kind and caring words offered in support of our friend and colleague as he and his family attempt to cope with this tragedy.

Given our strong emotional connection to Mr. Wood and his family it is legally impossible for us to prosecute this case. We truly appreciate the Attorney General’s Office for agreeing to handle this case given our conflict of interest. We also would like to thank the Rocklin Police Department and the Department of Justice for the immediate assistance not only in the investigation of the case, but for their care and concern for Mr. Wood and his family. With the Attorney General handling the criminal case it will allow our office to focus on giving Mr. Wood and his family the same love and support that he has given to crime victims during his 18 years of service to our county.

We would also like to thank those members of the media who effectively reported this story without sensationalism and with respect for the privacy and for the immense emotional pain that the Wood family is suffering. To those members of the media, we appreciate your professionalism and your grace.
