Building Inspection Scheduling Simplified

The inspection schedule will be published by 5:00 p.m. on the business day prior to the inspection date.

Inspections may be scheduled two ways, online or over the phone.

Inspections may be scheduled online using the Placer County Online Permits Portal.

Over the Phone

The Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) system is an automated voice response system used via a touch tone phone to schedule your construction inspections. With the introduction of the IVR system you will be using your touch-tone phone to schedule inspections, along with other available functions to serve you better. For best results, you may want to use a land-line for scheduling inspections as cell phones are subject to signal loss and may not schedule the inspection. After scheduling your inspection, do not hang up; wait for your confirmation number at the end. A confirmation number must be received in order for the inspection to have been scheduled.

To schedule inspections using the automated phone line:

Remote Video Inspections

Remote Virtual Inspections Placer County has implemented a Video Inspection Program to provide an alternative for eligible inspections, including limited re-inspections. Click here for more information.

When Will the Inspector Arrive

In an effort to allow contractors and homeowners the opportunity to estimate a two-hour window of time when their inspector may arrive to perform the inspection, the On-Line Daily Inspection Sequence List has been developed. While it is the responsibility of the person scheduling the inspection to ensure that someone is at the project site when the inspector arrives, we understand the value of your time and are trying to be as efficient and time-considerate as possible. The examples provided in the tables on this page are not a guaranteed window of time, but may assist in estimating the Time of Arrival (ETA) for the inspector.

This is only a very general Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA), and the Placer County Building Division does not guarantee any specific time or time frame. The ETA will vary based on work load (office and field), travel, location and complexity of the inspections for a given day. Inspections are canceled throughout the day and this also affects the inspectors ETA. Lunch and coffee breaks should also be considered when estimating the inspector’s ETA. Although every effort is made to provide complete and accurate information on this website, users are advised to contact appropriate Community Development Resource Agency staff before making project decisions. This may involve contacting more than one department/division (e.g. Building, Planning, Environmental Health, Air Pollution, Engineering and Surveying, etc.), since each department/division implements specific codes or ordinances which may affect your project.
