Employers Play a Vital Role in the Collection of Child Support
As an employer, you can partner with us on our mission to obtain child support so more children have the opportunity to succeed. Your role as an employer is critical to enhancing the quality of life for children and families. By following the statutory mandate to promptly withhold child support from your employee’s paycheck and forward it to the state disbursement unit, you are assuring that children in this county and throughout the state are provided with a financially stable environment.
All child support payments must be sent to the State Disbursement Unit (SDU). Please mail your payments to the SDU and include your case number and participant ID number.

Real Property Liens
Title companies play a critical role in the collection of child support. The child support agencies throughout the State are required to file liens and abstracts of judgment in all cases where there is an active child support obligation. Whenever the support obligor buys, sells, or refinances a piece of real estate, the abstracts and liens ensure that the obligor’s support obligation takes precedence and their children benefit in some manner from the transaction.
Escrow agents encounter liens and abstracts frequently in handling real estate transactions. This web page is designed to answer the questions you may have when you encounter a support lien or abstract and advise you on the most efficient way to handle your inquiries and interaction with the Department of Child Support Services. This will ensure your escrow transaction is handled in the most efficient manner possible.
Making Lien Requests
Due to the large amount of child support cases that we support, we ask that when you are requesting a release of a lien or abstract, please make sure it is done well in advance of closure. This will allow us ample time to process your request and not delay closure.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We have knowledgeable employees to serve you and our child support customers. Thank you in advance for your support.

Obtaining a Release
The lien will be released only after the payment posts to the account. A letter will be mailed with the release. The release must then be recorded with the Assessor/Recorder’s Office. This department requests the Assessor/Recorder’s office send a copy to the obligor parent.
Please submit release requests early to allow for ample processing time.
